Innovating Across Borders

The subsidy scheme Innovating across borders is open for international innovation projects, whereby a Dutch company cooperates with:

  • at least one foreign partner from a Eureka country, or
  • at least one foreign partner from Canada, Japan, Singapore and the US (so-called industrialised countries), or
  • at least one foreign partner from Brasil, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, South Africa, South Korea (so-called emerging markets) and
  • possibly a Dutch partner and/or third party(s).

Criteria
Project proposals are assessed on the basis of three criteria:

  • Technological innovation: It has to be an R&D project, whereby research will be done on a new technology. The international state of affairs is the standard for this criterion. The bigger the technological breakthrough, the better the project will be valued on this point.
  • Cooperation: In a sound cooperation the partners complement each other on essential points and strive for a joint purpose. The foreign partners have to participate in the project at their own expense and risk.
  • Economic perspective: It is important that the project fits in the strategy of the participating companies. The project's results and the created economic value for the Dutch companies involved is also important.

Grant
The grant percentage amounts to 35% for research activities and 25% for development activities. With regard to SMEs these percentages will be raised with 10%. The maximum grant is Euro 750,000 for a project with a Eureka/industrialised country and Euro 500,000 for a project with an emerging market. Only the costs made by the Dutch participants are eligible. The maximum project duration is 3 years.
