Ghana: Sustainable maize programme

Advance Consulting assisted the partners to obtain FDOV funding for this innovative Public Private Partnership programme in North Ghana. The  programme aims to sustainably improve the yield and the income of maize farmers, thereby enhancing the food security in the region. An integrated approach includes the following main activities:

I. Expanding and strengthening farmer organisation;

II. Capacity building on Conservation farming for maize-based cropping systems;

III. Technical support for harvest and post-harvest treatment;

IV. Establishing a financing scheme for the farmers;

V. Advocacy and gender balance.

The programme will strengthen the farm management skills and market position of 12,000 farmers, introduce more resilient and ecologically balanced cropping systems and contribute to poverty alleviation and gender equality in the region.
