GSMA launched Innovation Fund for Mobile Internet Adoption and Digital Inclusion
GSMA has launched the GSMA Innovation Fund for Mobile Internet Adoption and Digital Inclusion. The fund aims to support innovative solutions to increasing mobile internet adoption and use for those currently not using mobile internet services.
Projects focus on innovations that overcome a number of barriers to mobile internet adoption. The main barriers that the programme aims to overcome are Accessibility, Affordability, Digital Skills, and Safety and Security. Projects need to demonstrate commercially sustainable models that are scalable and replicable in a similar environment. To be eligible, the applicant needs to have active users and revenue in at least one eligible market in Africa (Burkina Faso, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe) and Asia (Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka).
Grants up to GBP 250,000 are available for winning proposals. The funding requires at least 50% match funding from applicants in cash and/or in kind. The deadline for submitting project proposals is the 22nd of May 2020.
